Quit Smoking Benefits, Tips & Supplements

By : Suzanne VanDeGrift

Anyone who has never smoked has no idea how difficult it is to quit smoking. And, those who do smoke know all to well how difficult it is to kick the habit. Cigarette smoking is highly addictive. The colorless, poisonous alkaloid, nicotine, is the reason for the addiction. It's the reason a smoker goes through withdrawal, both physical and emotional. But, with determination, support, and quality herbal supplements, a person can successfully quit smoking for good.

Many people have gone down this road before. Some have gone down and come back and gone down it again. Many, many times, before being successful. Sadly, some smokers are never able to make it to the end of that road for the final time.
Hopefully, the tips here will help you travel down it for the last time. Two of the most important steps in quitting smoking are the two Ds, desire and determination. You need to be quitting because YOU want to and you must believe that you can. Believe in yourself and nothing is beyond your reach.

Next, solicit the support of all your family and friends, especially the smokers. Make sure they understand how important it is that you are able to be in a smoke-free environment during this process. Also, let them know that there are more than likely going to be times when you'll be irritable or short tempered. Make sure they understand it's the withdrawal and not personal. And, that it's during those times that you'll need their support more than ever.

Smokers enjoy smoking. Cigarettes have become their friends, even though they know they are bad for them. Preparing yourself is an important step. Take it one day at a time. Get rid of everything associated with smoking that you own. Don't just put it away. GET RID OF IT!! Cigarettes, cigarette case, lighters, ashtrays, matches. Some people are Okay with just putting things away, like the ashtrays. If you feel you're strong enough and can put them out of sight, make that decision, but make it carefully.

Don't be caught off guard. Be prepared for that cocktail party or sudden overwhelming craving with an herbal inhaler. One that is completely natural with ingredients of peppermint, spearmint, orange, pine bark, thyme, and helichrysum to get you through those difficult times. This a superior alternative to the chemical-laden products on the market.

Make a list of all the benefits you'll gain from quitting. Once you start, you'll be amazed at how long the list may get. The health benefits should be at the top of the list. You'll also save money, smell better, have more energy and stamina, better skin, and more time to experience life's pleasures. Your list will be personal to your goals. Keep it handy and refer to it often throughout each day to keep yourself focused and motivated.

Flushing your system, particularly during the first few days, is very important. Drink plenty of water. This will help to rid your body of the nicotine and toxins associated with cigarettes. You can also drink fruit juices, but try to avoid your after-dinner coffee which may trigger your craving for a cigarette. Change your daily routine. If you had a cigarette with your morning coffee, put off having it until you get to work or switch to tea. Make another list of all the situations that cause you to want a cigarette. If you can avoid them, do so. If you can't, figure out how you're going to handle the situation before it arrives.

It isn't necessary to gain weight when you quit smoking. You don't want the added stress of gaining weight while quitting. In addition to the herbal inhaler, try chewing sugar-free gum or sucking on hard candy. Add some healthy snacks that will require some time to chew, like celery, carrots, broccoli, and unsalted or lightly salted nuts. Drink your water first, so you'll be less likely to over indulge on whatever you choose. Having a substitute for the cigarette helps some people. It can be anything that you can carry and hold as you did your cigarette; such as an artificial cigarette or a peppermint stick.

To boost your possibilities of successfully becoming a non-smoker, add to your routine an herbal formula that will purify your bloodstream, strengthen your lungs, plus cause you to have a distaste for cigarettes. Select a pure product that includes ingredients such as deer tongue, peppermint, oats, magnolia, calamus, comfrey, echinacea, lobelia, hops, and catnip. Armed with these techniques and quality herbal supplements, you will be well on your way to a life free of tobacco.
